Key Terms

Couture- the highest level of fashion design which are usually affordable to the wealthy.
Example: Chanel, Christian Dior, Valentino
Fashion- consists of a current (constantly changing) trend, favored for frivolous rather than practical, logical, or intellectual reasons.
Style- a particular type of appearance
Kimora Lee Simmons- Designer for Baby Phat
Fashion Editor- the process of creating, developing and presenting content for fashion-specific magazines, websites, newspaper sections, or television shows. Editors occupy the mid to highest-level positions at publications
Trend- a current fashion or mode
Fashion designer- the applied art dedicated to the design of clothing and lifestyle accessories created within the cultural and social influences of a specific time.
Fad- a fashion that suddenly burst into the scene but only for a short time
Ready- to- wear- cross between couture and mass market not made for individual customers but great care is taken care of the choice of fabric
Fabric- any type, texture, or quality of a kind of cloth.
